La Serena lies in the middle of a small range of rural hills. On one side is the picturesque town of Alora, with
its castle, street markets and traditional shops. On the other side just 20 minutes away is Cartama Estacion,
providing the nearest supermarkets and easy access to the motorway leading to the airport, Malaga and the coast.

Enjoy the beauty of the Andalucian countryside. Walk or cycle the tracks and paths around the house and explore long
winding river beds, remote valleys and almond and olive groves. Close to the house you'll find orange, lemon and fig
trees and our very own olive grove from which the olive oil in the house is pressed.
Within half and hour you can also drive to the magnificant El Chorro lakes and national park where you can
canoe, hike and drive through stunning scenery (reminiscent of the Lake District). The nearest beach in Malaga is just
45 minutes away, but venture a bit further afield to Nerja or Marbella for Golden sands.
Towns
Historic Granada, Seville, Ronda and even Gibraltar are just a few hours away by car and easily reachable for a day
trip. If you enjoy wind surfing or want to go whale watching then Tarifa is a fantastic day trip. If you really
want to travel then the high speed rail link takes you to Madrid in under four hours.
